This film includes footage of a tiny baby gorilla being cared for at the home of Dr. Lee G. Simmons, a tour behind the scenes at Henry Doorly Zoo's new hospital and nursery facilities, plus a partially edited interview at the Zoo's new facilities with Dr. Simmons by the ost of KETV television, Mike May. The film begins with silent footage of an infant gorilla wearing a little blue dress being cared for by Dr. Lee Simmons and his wife, Maria, at their home. Dr. Simmons is seen weighing and measuring the tiny gorilla with Maria's help and as their young daughter observes. The footage follows of Maria nurturing and bottle feeding the swaddled baby gorilla, burping the baby, gently cleaning its body with a washcloth, and placing the sleepy baby into its incubator. Briefly includes two young gorillas at play with the family and their pet dog, shot in the Simmons' backyard. Audio of May's interview with Dr. Simmons guides a tour of the Zoo's new hospital facilities. The footage of the new nursery featuring a baby gorilla, a baby orangutan, and a baby jaguar enjoying some playtime with Maria Simmons and two Zoo employees is followed by a tour of the new hospital including the kitchen, treatment room, and a surgical area with equipment.
