The University of Nebraska at Omaha was founded in 1908 as the University of Omaha (OU), a private institution under the sponsorship of the Presbyterian Theological Seminary at Omaha. The OU campus was located northwest of downtown Omaha along the east half of the block west of 24th street between Evans Street on the south and Pratt Street on the north. Classes began at the University of Omaha in September of 1909 with an enrollment of 26 students. OU faculty offices were located in homes across from campus along 24th street.
